Recently, the main drive system of medium voltage high-power three-level IGCT rolling mill developed by CRRC Times Electric was successfully put into operation in a 3000mm medium plate plant of a large state-owned steel plant in Fujian. It has realized the first application of domestic medium voltage AC-DC-AC drive system products in the field of medium and heavy plate rolling mill in the iron and steel industry, and achieved a breakthrough in collaborative steel rolling with different brands of equipment driving the upper and lower rollers respectively.
The state-owned steel plant purchased two sets of medium voltage drive systems from a foreign enterprise in 2010 to drive two 4.5mw motors for the upper and lower rollers respectively, with a maximum rolling force of more than 40000 kn. The production and operation costs of enterprises have been seriously affected due to equipment aging, increased failures and expensive spare parts. In order to solve this dilemma, CRRC technicians deeply analyzed customer needs, operating condition characteristics and operating data in advance, actively discussed with customers, finally reached a consensus, and adopted the scheme of gradual transformation to promote the realization of localization. The successful operation of CRRC medium voltage drive system fully verifies that the domestic medium voltage main drive has reached the international leading level in terms of capacity, reliability and control performance, and has the strength to compete with international first-class brands.
