On March 3, 2021, shipment of the city double-decked passenger trains of the Phase II purchase project for Sydney, Australia officially started. Phase II of Sydney double-decked passenger train purchase project was executed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co, Ltd. The train comprises 8 cars (4 motor cars and 4 trailer cars), and has a maximum operating speed of 130km/h. Adopting the Australian standards while integrating the most advanced international standards, the train is safe, comfortable and energy-saving with a relatively long operation life.
It took 18 months to deliver the first train to the proprietor after the signing of the contract, which set a delivery speed record for Sydney projects. Although affected by the pandemic in 2020, the project team worked hard to overcome multiple adverse factors, including personnel quarantine and disrupted material supply. The project team built good relationship and a communication channel with both the domestic and overseas supervision teams, and effectively facilitated problem solving in the process of project execution. Furthermore, the team comprehensively summarized and analyzed lessons learnt from the Phase I project, and achieved quality targets agreed with the user, which was recognized by the user. The project team received a commendation letter from DOWNER on the New Year’s day of 2021.
