Medium pressure main drive systems for rolling mills

Recently, the medium-voltage main drive system of the rolling mill independently developed by CNR National Transformer Center Company, a subsidiary of CRRC Times Electric, passed the acceptance test in H-beam rolling of large general plant of Anshan Steel Co.
The project is an expansion and renovation project of a 950 continuous rolling line opening billet machine from DC to AC. The original equipment had problems such as old equipment, high maintenance costs and inadequate equipment performance. Through the technical team's close systematic research and evaluation, the final decision was made to adopt the medium-voltage main drive system of the CRRC rolling mill to drive the 5000kW AC synchronous motor retrofit solution.
The transformation implementation task is heavy, the short-term window, from May 21, 2022 to complete the transformation construction, to 26 days to complete the commissioning and start production, only five days, a time on the power smoothly over the steel. Since the successful commissioning of the first rolling mill on May 26, 2022, the equipment has been running well, with all performance indicators meeting the technical requirements of the customer and the quality of the finished products being well recognized by the customer.
H-beam is an economic section steel which can be widely used in industry, construction, bridges, oil rigs etc. and is in great demand in the market. The continuous rolling line of Ansteel's large general plant is a key economically efficient product line of Ansteel Group, which requires very high standards of output and quality. As the core equipment of the rolling line, the domestic mill medium pressure main drive system was subject to foreign brand enterprises for many years in terms of price, maintenance cost and service response speed.
The successful acceptance of the project signifies that the customer has more autonomy in its business area, and also realizes the successful application of domestic self-developed mill main drive products in the field of H-beam, demonstrating the advanced technology and strong strength of the company in the field of mill main drive.
