On May 11, CRRC Sifang and its partner ASTRA officially signed the supply contract of 100 trams with Bucharest Town Hall of Romania. Vehicles covered by the project are 100% low-floor modern trams with a standard track gauge, four-module formation and DC750V power supply. This is the first complete vehicle project won by Chinese rail transit equipment enterprises in Romania. For a long time, CRRC Sifang has been focusing on developing the rail transit market in Romania in partnership with ASTRA, a local company.
Romania’s capital Bucharest is the largest city of Romania. Trams are one of the most important local public transportation modes in Bucharest, which operates a tram network of about 143 kilometers in total length. The trams under this project will start to be delivered from 2022, and will be put into operation in Bucharest’s eight tram routes.
As the first complete vehicle project won by CRRC Sifang in Europe, this project is of milestone significance in the development of the European market.
